Reaching Rome by plane:
The best way to travel to Rome is using the Leonardo da Vinci International Airport, also known as Fiumicino Airport which is Italy's largest airport, and is located at about 26 km southwest from the center of the city. Rome also has a second airport locates at 15Km south east of Rome; the Ciampino–G. B. Pastine International Airport which has been active since 1916, making it one of the oldest airports still operating. Since the opening of the Leonardo da Vinci International Airport, the Ciampino – G. B. Pastine International Airport handles mostly charter and executive flights. Once at the Ciampino Airport you have tow main ways of reaching the city center:
Taxi:
There is a Taxi central located outside the airport, it will cost you between 36 and 46 Euros to reach the center of Rome depending on the travel time and luggage. Traveling time should take about 30 minutes depending on traffic conditions.
Bus:
From Fiumicino Airport –You can reach the city using one of the different bus lines available. The bus stops of Cotral company are located in front of Terminal 2 in the Arrivals area. All the bus stops of the other bus companies are located at the BUS stop concentration adjacent to the exits from Terminal 3 in the Arrivals area. From Rome Ciampino Airport – In Rome Ciampino Airport, there are several bus lines available. Passengers can find the buses from the companies ATRAL, COTRAL, SIT, TERRAVISION and SCHIAFFINI parked in dedicated bus bays located in the opposite side of the international departures area at the passenger terminal..
Reaching Rome by train:
An alternative to travelling by plane is doing by Train. Rome Termin Stationi is the city's main hub for the public transport network, located right in the center of Rome (Address: Piazza dei Cinquecento, 00185). It is open from 4:30 am. to 1:30 a.m every day and has connection to the Bus, tram and metro (subway) networks of the city. There are several international train connections that arrive to Rome Termin Stationi daily, as well as to other Italian cities.
